Privacy Policy
Developer Information
Fretio is developed by Fengming Zhong. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use our guitar learning and practice application.
Our Commitment to Privacy
Fretio is designed with privacy in mind. Practice data, learning progress, and core audio processing stay on your device. The app does not require an account and does not send core practice data to external servers.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we don't collect:
- No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personal identifiers
- No Audio Recording: Your guitar playing is processed in real-time for note detection but is never recorded or stored
- No Location Data: We do not access or collect your location information
- No Account Required: You can use all app features without creating an account or providing any personal information
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following information is stored locally on your device and never leaves your device:
- Practice Progress: Your learning progress, practice session history, and performance statistics
- Settings and Preferences: Your app configuration, audio sensitivity settings, and interface preferences
- Learning Presets: Custom practice configurations and saved presets you create
- Achievement Data: Your milestones, streak counters, and progress tracking
Audio Processing
Fretio uses your device's microphone to detect guitar notes and provide real-time feedback:
- Real-Time Processing: Audio is analyzed instantly on your device for note recognition
- No Recording: Audio data is never recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere
- Local Analysis: All audio processing happens locally using your device's processing power
- Optional Feature: You can use the app without microphone access, though audio features won't work
App Permissions
Fretio requests minimal permissions:
- Microphone Access: Required for guitar tuning and note detection features. This permission is optional - you can deny it and still use the visual practice features
- Local Storage: To save your practice progress and app preferences on your device
No Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit any of your data to third parties. Since core data remains on your device, there is nothing to share. We do not use advertising networks, and the public App Store listing currently states that Fretio collects no data.
Data Security
Your data security is important to us:
- Local Storage Only: All your data stays on your device using iOS's secure storage mechanisms
- No Cloud Sync: We don't offer cloud synchronization, ensuring your data never leaves your device
- iOS Security: Your data benefits from iOS's built-in security features and sandboxing
Your Control Over Data
You have complete control over your data:
- View Your Data: All your practice data is visible within the app's progress and settings sections
- Delete Individual Data: You can delete specific practice sessions or progress data within the app
- Reset All Data: Use the "Reset Progress" feature in settings to clear all practice data
- Complete Removal: Uninstalling the app removes all associated data from your device
Children's Privacy
Fretio is safe for users of all ages, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal information, there are no privacy concerns related to children's data. Parents can feel confident letting their children use Fretio to learn guitar.
